Arson Awareness

Working Together For Your Safety

Due to a large number of deliberately lit fires in this area The New South Wales Fire Brigade, The New South Wales Police Service, The New South Wales Rural Fire Service and the Cessnock City Council have joined forces in a campaign to help curb the recent outbreak of arsonists at work.

Malicious fires put lives and property at serious risk and waste valuable Police and Fire Brigades resources.

For the year 2001 there were over 7000 recorded arson events in NSW. The overall national raw dollar cost for that year being conservatively estimated at around $180 million dollars in private and commercial losses, but in true fact it could be 4 times that figure.

If you observe suspicious activity or have any information on these fires please contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

We need your help to stop these deliberately lit fires.
