SABRE ProgramFACT: Smoke from a home fire is toxic, only early warning can assist in giving your family vital time to escape a smoke filled room. Also, when asleep you will not smell the smoke from a fire and the smoke will actually put you into a deeper sleep. A smoke alarm can provide the early warning you need and is the critical first step in your home fire safety plan. Smoke Alarm Battery Replacement for the Elderly (SABRE) is a free program initiated by the NSWFB for replacement and installation of Smoke Alarms and Batteries for the elderly and incapacitated people. The program has received strong support from the Kurri Kurri and surrounding communities, businesses and local charity groups. The client list has already over a 100 people and is growing steadily. As well as replacement of Batteries and Smoke Alarms we educate the people about fire prevention and what to do in case of an outbreak. We feel this is an extremely important venture as it aims to supply members from the community with resources and education to reduce the risk of life or property threatening fires without reducing their independence. We are very thankful to the Rotary Club who have generously donated Smoke Alarms and Batteries to make this program possible. If you like more information or would like to become involved in the program please don't hesitate to contact the station, our details are on the Home Page. |
