Fire Education ProgramOver the past 2 years the crew from Kurri Kurri Fire Brigade has received positive feedback about the Fire Ed program running in the local schools. The campaign has focused on Kindergarten and Year 6 students from Kurri Kurri Primary School, Stanford Merthyr Primary School and Pelaw Main Primary School. The fire fighters spoke to the children in these classes and taught them the principles of fires, good fires bad fires, causes of fire, stop drop and roll, and included a demonstration of a fire fighter in Breathing Apparatus. The program centred strongly around the Triple Zero campaign teaching the students how to call Triple Zero and what to do in case of an emergency. After the theory lesson a follow lesson is arranged and the fire fighters come back and asses how much the children remember. The follow up lesson also comes with the fire truck and demonstration.
