Chainsaw  18" Husqvana

The Kurri Kurri Fire Brigade is better equipped  thanks to the Metro Service Station at Cliftleigh, The Kurri Kurri Bowling Club, The Kurri Kurri Hot Bread Shop and the Cliftleigh and Heddon Greta community for there efforts. They helped us raise over $1800.00 in July 2003 to purchase a new Husqvana 18" Chainsaw and the appropriate safety equipment.

All fire fighters have been trained in its operations at 2 day chainsaw course.

It is an extremely useful addition to the stations inventory and has already proved its worth at bushfires to help gain access from felled trees at life and property threatening fires. But its biggest test was when the Kurri Kurri Fire Brigade was responded to a Storm and Tempest Incident at Alkira Ave Cessnock 2/2/05, were trees were uprooted onto peoples cars, boats, fences, and even a house was hit when a large Ghost Gum came tumbling down onto it in the over 90km/h winds. The Husky proved an invaluable asset when crews worked the roof top to remove the tree that had came down.
